Dawn Gibbins MBE - the powerhouse behind the Beartown rebranding

In September 2008, The Congleton Business Group Marketing Team was formed, with the prime objective ‘ to develop a distinctive brand image for Congleton’. To encourage tourism, business development and a better lifestyle for young and old, the Team identified that Congleton needed to enhance its local and national distinctiveness, making Congleton unique to other towns and raising its profile as a Cheshire Town.

That’s when copywriter Len Smith was asked to develop the My Beartown website. Working with a team of dedicated volunteers, he launched the site  in just two weeks – that included 100 pages and more than 100 photographs.

The site is currently being optimized and within six months will have become the definitive website dedicated to the town of Congleton
